Sukhsagar – happiness amidst the ocean

4 of 5 stars

You cannot be at the Sukhsagar, bang opposite Hilton Hotel in the Jumeirah Beach Residences area in Dubai  and not be happy . Although the Restaurant serves traditional Indian food , we settled for the “all dosas” menu starting with a tall glass of juice prepared from fresh alphonso mangoes , and we were not disappointed . The place serves almost 14 types of dosas – some of which we had never heard of before, incl: chocolate and noodles dosa – and 4 kinds of utthapams , and within the family members there was an intense competition to see who ate more numbers of dosas , very small in size as they are . Dining at the Sukhsagar and walking along the 1.7 km long path in the posh area that Jumeirah Beach Residences is , you get a typical European feel with cafes in the open footpath, and the red awnings and umbrellas give the place a Parisian look. Must dine at Sukhsagar at the Beach Restaurant , at least once, while visiting  Dubai . You will remember the visit for a long time.

The best bakery in Noida, close to New Delhi

Theos, now located in Sector 41, Noida, close to New Delhi  on the main Dadri Road, adjoining HP petrol pump, is undoubtedly the best bakery in town . The ambience is nice , the premises well furnished, spotlessly clean and the airconditioning really comfortable . We ordered croissants with vegetable patties and kiwi fruit shake and found them to be quite delicious . One can also enjoy a 4-course vegetarian buffet meal @ Rs 899+ taxes .

Overall a nice experience , but be prepared to shell out 30-40% more than what you would ordinarily pay for similar bakery products served at bakeries elsewhere in the town . The establishment appears to have hiked up the prices considerably post shifting from the earlier premises in Sector 50, Noida .

Enjoy authentic Indian food here while in Dubai

It is not easy to find Rajdhani Restaurant in the South Asian community dominated Karama area in Bur Dubai . But once you are there, you will be glad that you made it . Reservations are not accepted and you have to be prepared to wait for 30 minutes before being offered a table . But once you are there, the service starts rapidly . A great rajasthani-gujarati style cuisine is offered in thalis comprising of veg cutlets, dhoklas, 3 kinds of rotis , vegetables , papadums, rice and buttermilk with gulab jamuns/ shahi paneer at the end . You can eat ( and drink) to your heart’s content without worrying about the food bill going up as  the thali is a fixed 30 Dhs/person . Please ring the bell – Pizza Hut style – while getting out to thank the restaurant management for the delicious meal and the fast service ( the restaurant is shortly shifting from its present location and will be renamed as Maharajabhoj Restaurant )
